Improving your skills by rehearsing in front of a mirror is an excellent way to improve your delivery. However there are three steps before this that can greatly improve your overall presentation. Step 1 is to ask yourself the 6 crucial questions. (http://presentingyourpoint.com/2009/01/08/the-6-questions-you-must-address-before-you-open-powerpoint/) Why are you presenting? Who is your audience? What is your message in ten words or less? Where are you presenting? When are your presenting? How will you present? (with PPT, flip chart, or just you and your audience.
Step 2 is writing your script. I suggest you use a story format.
Step 3 is your support materials. If you use PPT, make your slides very visual, low on text and simple. Use a lot of space.
Hope this helps. Happy presenting!
